Hello,

I'm quite interested in a Z170 Board. My first choice would be either the Z170 Extreme4, the Z170 Pro4 or the Z170 Pro4S.

However, one thing is not really clear for me:
Is it possible to use a M.2 PCIe-SSD (e.g. the Samsung SM951) and 6 other SATA-devices at the same time?

It is clear that the usage of a M.2-SATA SSD disables 2 SATA-Ports. But does this also happen if a M.2-PCIe-Device is used?
The description of the Extreme4 says ?œM2_1, SATA3_0, SATA3_1 and SATA_EXP_0 share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the others will be disabled.??which sounds for me as the PCIe Lanes are shared.
However, the description of the Pro4 and the Pro4S indicates ?œIf M2_1 is occupied by a SATA-type M.2 device, SATA3_0 and SATA3_1 will be disabled.??which sounds for me as only the SATA-Lanes are shared

So it is truly so, that the Extreme4 cannot use a M.2 PCIe SSD and 6 other SATA-Devices at the same time but the cheaper Pro4 and Pro4S can (In this case, I would consider buying the Pro4 instead of the Extreme4)?
Or does all three boards have the same limitation regarding this and only the description differs? In this case, which is correct: Is SATA3 disabled if M2_1 is occupied (by eather SATA or PCIe) or only if M2_1 is occupied by a SATA-Type device?
