So I have a 8700k on my Taichi and had it running very stable on 5GHz on Version 1.3 of the Bios
Unfortunately I finally decided to update the BIOS to get the spectre protection After the Update on V 1.8 of the Bios everything went south. Old settings don´t work with BSOD. I didn´t get anything from 4.9 to 5.1 GHz stable even with 1.415V even though I was stable on 1.36V 5GHz before. Bios Rollback does not work. Even after the rollback to V1.3 of the Bios I am unstable. In both cases I also get WHEA error warnings in the windows event viewer. I have been told by experts that this is common since the spectre patches on any board and that I can´t roll back the microcode update with setting the BIOS back to V1.3. I should not get any BSOD though. I do think it is because of the microcode because I still get the BSOD even on the old settings and BIOS. Since the Taichi has a secondary Bios. As far as I know it does this automatically when the normal Bios is corrupted. Does anyone know a way how to manualy flash this one back? Or some other way to get rid of the microcode update? Or maybe someone has another tip for me, I am running into a wall here. I am currently still trying to fiddle with my bios settings to maybe find some settings that helps. I would rather get rid of the microcode update though. This is very frustrating. |
