Z77 Extreme6 Microcode update

   Greetings
I just updated my Z77 Extreme6 motherboard with the newly released 2.90 Beta Bios.

All went well with the update and I have returned everything to previous settings.

I thought this was supposed to patch the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilitys
without the need for the Microsoft patches that slow down performance of CPU.

But the InSpectre tool it still says I am not protected if I disable the patches.
And enabling them results in it reporting that my system performance is slower.

Am I confused as to what this bios update was supposed to accomplish?

	According to GRC you need both BIOS microcode update and Windows patch for Spectre. Meltdown only needs a Windows patch. If your machine does not do any Internet work then you do not need any patches since both vulnerabilties need full web access to a machine to fully exploit that machine afaik.
