Hello

My new build contains an Asrock AB350M Pro4 motherboard with Crucial MX500 m.2 SSD and WD Blue 1 TB HDD. The bios and OS (windows 10) cannot find the HDD. Here is some more information:
  • All components, except for the GPU, in this computer are new from the store
  • Both power cable and SATA cable are connected
  • I can hear the HDD spinning, so it should work
  • SATA interface is enabled in BIOS
  • The m.2 SSD is in the m2_2 slot, meaning that SATA3_3 should not be used. This is the case.
  • I tried with different SATA cables, on all SATA ports on the motherboard (except for the SATA3_3 for the reason mentioned above)
  • The BIOS is the latest version (although it mentions 4.7 in UEFI, the website states that latest version should be 4.6)
Any thoughts or ideas I can try? I'm planning to try using this HDD in another PC and try other HDD on this motherboard.

Complete build list:
  • Asrock AB350M pro4
  • Ryzen 5 2600x
  • Crucial MX500 m.2 SSD
  • WD Blue WD10EZEX, 1TB
  • Corsair CX550M
  • Gigabyte GTX 680
  • Sharkoon VS4-V
  • G.Skill DDR4 Aegis 2x8GB 3000Mhz

Thanks

Hello

This issue was a brain fart on my side: I downloaded the latest drivers of the AB350 pro4 instead of the AB350M pro4. After installing the correct drivers, i.e. the drivers for the AB350M, the HDD was recognized.

Good luck.

Hi!

Having the same issue with B450M-HDV R4.0 and a WD 1TB drive.
All parts brand new, (Ryzen 5 1600), Kingston 8 GB RAM, Kingston 120 GB SSD)
WD 1 TB was first seen by the board, then formatted, in Windows 10 install.
Then it lost the drive, then only BIOS saw it, then no trace of it. Checked with multiple new cables, all ports, with or without any other devices connected. Checked in other PC: detected and formatted at once, tested, all working.
Could this be the same case? What should be done?
Thanks!
