Hello, I have a Taichi x99 and I have already installed a Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SSD, but I am trying to install a second one and is not being detected by the BIOS nor Windows 10. My system is: Taichi x99 (BIOS 1.80) Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SATA III (500GB) (Working fine since ever) Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 (250GB) (Just bought it, trying to make it work, it does not) Windows 10 None of those SSDs are listed here: But again, the 850 one works fine. I don't know what to do to be honest. I have read a lot of questions in this forum about similar issues but none of them (at least I could not find them) is with this particular model nor with 2 M.2 SSDs at the same time. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

The M.2 lanes are shared with the sata connectors. Look in your manual to find out what ports are shared with the M.2. You cannot use both at the same time. Disconnect the sata ports and try again.

Hello RLGL, Thanks for your answer. Currently I have 4 storage devices in my computer:
I have tried disconnecting both Crucial and WD and leaving only M.2 connected as you suggested (maybe I am doing something wrong?) and still nothing. In BIOS I can only see the 850 one. Also, in the BIOS, in the tool which shows the motherboard with all the installed components and highlights in yellow those which are connected, the 970 does not show there either. I have no idea what can I do next. |

Remove all storage except the 970, see if it shows in the bios, if not try it in the other slot. Maybe look at the sticky post "How To Install Windows On A PCIe SSD" on the first page of the forum

What CPU Do u run?: ***If you install CPU with 28 lanes, the M2_1 only supports SATA type M.2 module. This means your 970 wich is an NVME would only work in the M2_2 slot. *Also dont use SATA3_3 and SATA 3_2 connectors: SATA3_3 connector is shared with the M2_1; SSATA3_2 connector is shared with the M2_2. And Windows can only detect your SSD when your Bios detects it

Wow, that made it! I have a Intel Broadwell-E Core i7 6800K which has 28 lanes. I've done exactly what you suggested and it worked.
I have also connected my others storage devices to SATA3_0 and SATA3_1 Thanks a lot.
