I have an old asrock b550 phantom gaming 4 ac motherboard and I wanted to use it for an emachine with downgrading to a Ryzen 4600G CPU. I installed the latest (non) BIOS and when I swapped out the Ryzen 5800X for the 4600G, the CPU and DRAM lights are stuck on and RED and will not post.
Is the 4600G compatible with the motherboard. Most updates say 50000G series support and fixes. I'm afraid one of them has borked 4600G support or something. Any advice on what may be the issue? |

I couldn't find an edit post option.
So I want to add that I reinstalled my 5800X and it posts just fine (BIOS 3.40). But 4600G won't post at all. |

Also, the 4600G is listed as supported on the "CPU support list"

In my sad experience, if it ain't on the officially supported list of exact CPU models, the B550 will not boot with it. A colleague tells me that there's a hard-coded list of CPUs and their params like voltages. My experience is similar to yours - it just won't post (though, if I powered up with that unsupported CPU and without memory it would beep, so it gets part way into the POST before giving up the ghost, er, post).

P.S. Mine was a B550M ProSE, but the issue probably runs pretty deep.
