X99 extreme4, bios version 3.30, drive Samsung SM951 NVMe 256Gb.
The controller is recognised (in the NVMe section of the bios) and the driver accepted (in Windows 8), but no disk appears, neither under Windows, nor in the Advanced\Storage Configuration part of the bios.
"NVMe controller and Drive information
Bus:2 Dev:0 Func:0 SAMSUNG MZVPV256HDGL-00000"
That's all I've gotten out of it, under the Advanced/NVMe Configuration part of the bios.

It is normal for PCIe NVMe SSDs to NOT be listed in the Storage Configuration screen in the UEFI.

Only SATA drives or PCIe SSDs that use an AHCI driver (non-NVMe version of the SM951) will appear in the Storage Configuration screen.

NVMe is a different storage protocol than SATA, so we should not expect this type of SSDs to be included in the screen used for SATA/AHCI type drives.

My NVMe SSDs also do not appear in the Storage Configuration screens of my ASRock X99 and Z170 board's UEFIs.

Regarding the SM951 not being seen by Windows, did you initialize and format it in Disk Management? You must do that before any drive will be seen by Windows.

Thank you for the quick reply. After rebooting, the disk finally appeared in Disk Management, from there it's been a cakewalk.
