Anyhow, eve top-of-the-line ASUS boards have only 16MB. 

It all boils down to what OEMs will do. I for one couldn't care less if support for 3000-series Ryzen means no support for 2000- or 1000- series (due to them being left out to make room).

You can't run 2 CPUs on 1 socket, so why would you care if your BIOS blob can handle 2 or 3 simultaneously?
