Hi all,

I have a computer which is an assembly and it is running Windows 7 32 bit, and it has an ASRock G41M-VGS3 P 1.10 motherboard.

Is it necessary to update BIOS to a newer version or update Windows to 64-bit, for example?

Thanks in advance.

Specs for the board are at (https://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/g41m-vs3/). No you do not need to update bios if everything is working. As far as Windows is concerned, the board will support Win 64 bit. Again if all is well, leave it alone. If you want Win 7 or above, new hardware is needed.

Hello RLGL,

I searched the ASRock website but couldn't find my current BIOS version which is P1.10?

Will a BIOS update allow me to take advantage of the 4 GB installed on my computer?

After that, can I install Windows 10 64 bit to my current setup?

No, a BIOS update won't change the limitation on your RAM. That is because you
are using a 32bit OS. If you want to utilize all your RAM you will need to install
windows 7 64bit.

I would not recommend upgrading to windows 10 on that system. Upgrade to
Windows 7 64bit, that will give you access to all your RAM and will likely be the
best fit for your system. Windows 10 will slow your system down to a crawl and
won't offer any benefit over windows 7.

Hi Xaltar,

thank you for your reply.

Why is the current BIOS version P1.10 not showing up in the ASRock list of BIOS updates?

I get the idea that your PC is built by a manufacturer, like Dell or was sold by a chain store. If this is the case you will need to go to the site of whoever built it.

This computer is an assembly and is not manufactured by any particular company.

The ASRock motherboard has replaced the old, defective motherboard.
