I have the Fatal1ty x370 Gaming X motherboard some years now with a Ryzen 5 1600 and I wanted to update to a Ryzen 5 5600. Can someone tell me if it will be compatible?
Thank you |

I see their "CPU Support List" page is outdated, but their BIOS page includes R5-5600 (Vermeer) support, so I'd say it's a GO.
Depending on your current BIOS version, it could be messy, though. OLD->3.50->5.20->7.00->7.30 and then swap CPU to 5600. Where you start depends on what your current BIOS is. Don't go backwards. Good thing you're not trying to go to G-series APU (5600G), as it might not be possible to add support for it using 1000/2000 series CPU. You'd have to borrow a Matisse/Vermeer to make that happen, although the BIOS page for that particular motherboard doesn't say anything about that. So inconsistent.... |
