Does anyone know if the A88M-G/3.1 has an option in the UEFI to change the TDP of the A10-7860K to 45W?

TDP (Thermal Design Power) is a way of measuring maximum heat output from a CPU. To lower it the only option is to lower the core voltage. Take a look at 45w TDP quad core like the A8 7600, it has lower base clocks and Vcore to facilitate the lower TDP. From my reading on the matter it seems some motherboards allow a 45w mode for the A8 7600, this will not be present for the 10 7860k which is a 65w part. That is not to say you can't significantly lower the TDP by lowering the core voltage of the CPU. Keep dropping it by about 0.05v at a time and test for stability. If you can't get the core voltage as low as you would like then look at underclocking in conjunction with the core voltage drop.

Is there a particular reason you are shooting for 45w?

AMD lists it here: http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/processors/desktop/a-series-apu as a "45-65W" part.

And I had an ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+ paired with an A10-7800K which was also a "45-65W" part and there was an option in the UEFI to set it to 45W.

I suppose the question was more out of curiosity than anything else. Though, I think it may come in handy in some situations.

The manual for the A88M-G/3.1 shows an option in the OC Tweaker screen, called AMD Application power Management.

Is this the option you are asking about?

Nope. Flipping TDP High to Low or vice versa is what they're after. The newer cores allow to to jump between 45w and 65w power vs performance. Refereed to as cTDP, Configurable TDP.

ph3n0m, hehe, for starters, show me where the A88M-G/3.1 even supports the A10-7860K ??? I don't see that it does.

We have released P1.40C to set Target TDP and upload it to beta zone.

In BIOS Information Page, the behaviors are from bellows:

Set "Auto" and "65", Target TDP show "65W"

Set "45", Target TDP show "45W"

Please download it from below links:

Thanks!

All the best,

Not sure if you can assist to release the TDP option for A88M-ITX/ac Bios as well?
