TL;DR Is there a 16x4 = 64Gb RAM kit that the forum favourite/most recommended? I want to upgrade to 128GB later. I'd be happy with 2933Mhz or higher. The Asrock Taichi x399 QVL has only 128Gb RAMs kits that work at 2933Mhz but no 64Gb kits.
Long version: This leaves me with two choices at similar price range:
1. Gskill Ripjaws V, 3200 Mhz, 16-18-18-38 Model: F4-3200C16Q-64GVK I found one recent Newegg review of someone who said it works. Has anyone been successful with this?
2. Corsair LPX 3200 - CMK64GX4M4C3200C16 (My own theory based on model numbers) This is just my theory. By changing a few model numbers on the RAM that does work, I'm hoping i'll get something close enough. The logic is that in almost all QVL for 128Gb, three Corsair LPX RAMs are always listed regardless of x399 manufacturer. So I am thinking Corsair LPX is the best. These are always listed for 128GB compatibility for all motherboards & run at 2933Mhz:
CMK128GX4M8B3000C16 ver:4.31 CMK128GX4M8Z2933C16 CMR128GX4M8Z2933C16
So it seems that the letters B and Z are important. Here is the pattern:
For 128Gb, RAMs that work have letters B & Z & a latency of 16-18-18-36 & speed of 3000 Mhz. In 64 GB kit, letter B is in 64 GB kit has a higher speed of 3200Mhz. 16-18-18-36 latency. CMK64GX4M4B3200C16
In 32Gb, it letter B is again in 3200 Mhz RAM but not in 3000Mhz (I found some reports that the one at 3000 Mhz that has letter C does not work). 16-18-18-36 latency. CMK32GX4M2B3200C16
In 16Gb, letter B is in 3000 Mhz but 15-17-17-35 latency. CMK16GX4M1B3000C15
So maybe I'm overthinking it but I have a feeling that letter B is important. And as the kit has more sticks, first the latency increases and then the frequency decreases, but I think it's the same RAM just tuned differently. So CMK64GX4M4C3200C16 would have the highest chance of working. Interestingly Asrock Fatality QVL has a 64Gb compatible RAM that also has letter B for 64 GB with a C16 latency & 3333 Mhz (but they don't make this anymore).
Both LPX CMK32GX4M2B3200C16 and Gskill F4-3200C16Q-64GVK cost the same. You can also recommend any RAM what worked for you for 64/128GB at 2933Mhz or higher.
