Dear Sylvia1919,
Greetings, this is ASRock TSD.
Regarding your question, please follow the BIOS settings as below:
1. H/W Monitor\CPU_FAN1 Setting\Customize 2. H/W Monitor\CPU_FAN1 Temp Source\Monitor Tctrl
Note: Tctrl temperature comes from inside of CPU
Thanks!
All the best, ASRock TSD

Using tctrl, that I tested, causes fan/fans to be very noisy because of spikes of temperature of tdie (on behalf of other reader, tctl reports tdie temperature plus 10°C): for istance, my cpu tdie in the lapse of one minute can, depending on the program, pass from 30°C to 60/70°C (i.e. 40°C-70/80°C tctrl) even three times, so the fan spins from 1000rpm to 3500rpm (i.e. from silence to hoover) the very same times, being the only mitigation due to the physical impossibility for fan to react more than three time per second.
I tested also bios option fan-tastic and custom settings to model the response of fans, but with no stisfaction.
Eventually I ended up setting 'High' the physical switch on the cooler, so cpu fan stays around 2000rpm, quite quiet, and monitoring m/b (as monitor cpu, one of the three option, isn't working) with performance option mode. The other fans too are set to performace mode and m/b temperature monitor.
This though rely on a well working cap tdie that stops cores, so tdie itself doesn't pass 85°C (95° tctrl) and give time to m/b temperature to raise and then fans rpm to follow.
The first sticky thread of the forum has more info about this problem.
