Here's my build (I removed the video card for now as I thought it was a power issue at first):
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/k4mW8Y

I've used both sticks of memory in the A1 and A2 slots; the pc will boot up with either stick in either slot. When I include the other stick in the other (e.g. B1 when I had the other in A1 and vice versa) however, it won't boot up. The lights and fan turn on, but there's no display.

I've found some other posts online suggesting to run XMP on but all I see in the BIOS is to set XMP to either "Auto" or "Profile 1". Neither worked.

According to the manual for your board on page 17, it states put memory in slots A2 and B2

Make sure the CPU is seated properly and that you don't have any bent pins in the socket. The memory controller is on the CPU so if there are bent pins or improper contact it is not uncommon for RAM to misbehave.
