Hello

I've always had some issues with my computer, and I want to update the BIOS. It seems that the Bios Version is currently 1.0 -- and according to the website, 2.30 is out.

https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/H97M%20Pro4/index.asp#BIOS

I've tried everything I can think of:

  • The BIOS itself seems to have an Internet Update feature. It doesn't work. It claims that the Internet connection doesn't work, but DHCP on LAN is actually correct.

  • Instant Flash. I get a .zip file that contains a single file: H97MP42.30. I save this on a FAT32 formatted USB stick, but the bios fails to recognise it.

  • Windows Update fails with a cryptic error message

Any ideas?

Thanks

Only use the instant flash method. The other methods have a higher risk of failing and potentially bricking your board.

Looking at your BIOS download page it seems version 1.20 updates the instant flash module, you may want to try and update to that first and see if it works. It may be that the latest version requires that updated module.
