32GB SODIMMs are finally starting to become readily available (if you have the money). As far as I can tell, architecturally they should be supported on the X299E-ITX/ac, but the specifications say that only 64GB of memory is supported.

I know in many cases the specifications were written that way because the higher capacity memory simply wasn't available. Is that the case here? Or is 4x16GB really the most we can get? I'm not quite willing to spend $1200-$2000 to test it out myself.

Your best bet is to contact Tech Support, include the RAM kit (brand and model) you are curious about and they may be able to test it for you, provided they have access to the kit.
