Subject: ASRock 775Dual-VSTA & SSD - in BIOS not detected

Hello everybody,
for my computer with an ASRock 775Dual-VSTA motherboard, I have recently - for the purpose of full hard drive - installed a second hard drive. This is a Samsung V-NAND SSD 860 EVO.
After I connected the hard drive to the mainboard using a SATA cable, the BIOS still shows "not detected" at the corresponding SATA port. The mainboard should basically support SSDs (see, for example, this Crucial offer: https://www.crucial.de/deu/de/upgrad...k/775dual-vsta).
What can I do to make this ASRock motherboard and SSD hard drive work together? Unfortunately my BIOS selection options are limited (essentially only "RAID" and "NON-RAID" - both variants unsuccessful). Also, a BIOS update does not make sense to me, as the "unofficial" 3.19a release, according to changelog, does not offer any relevant changes for SSDs.
Many thanks in advance for any support!

I've got a 775Twins HDTV motherboard & I had a similar problem insomuch as the BIOS saw the Crucial SSD card (which was recommended by Crucial), the SATA Controller showed in Device Manager but the drive didn't show in either Device Manager or Disk Management. The SSD card was recognised when I put it in a USB enclosure so not an SSD card issue. Eventually I changed the BIOS setting for- Advanced - IDE Configuration - ATA Combination Mode - from Disabled to Enabled. The PC then dual-booted up from the SSD card into both Windows 7 & Windows 10. However, with ATA Combination Mode = Enabled, the PC will only support one SATA device so I can only have the Crucial SSD card & no other SATA devices. The IDE secondary channel still works & the CD drive shows up. With the ATA Combination Mode = Disabled, the PC will start to boot up from the SSD so it's not an MBR issue) but then hangs for a few seconds & then restarts the PC. P.S. Non-raid is the recommended BIOS setting although mine worked on both.

Ok, I got round the problem by installing a £16 4 port PCI to SATA card into one of the PCI slots (PCI, not PCIe). The boot drive SSD is connected to the motherboard SATA port one & the secondary SSD drive is connected to a port on the PCI to SATA card. BIOS is set to ATA Combination Mode = Enabled so only SATA port one on the motherboard works but all four SATA ports on the PCI to SATA card work.
