Subject: Can get PCI Gen3 x 4 on M.2 port

Hi.
I have a x470 Master SLI/ac board. In the proper M.2 port (the one under the heatsink) I have a Samsung 970 EVO SSD.
It is running quite slowly. I found it is only communicating with 2 PCIe channels (PCI ver 3 x2), not 4 as it should.
Is there a BIOS setting or something else I should be doing to allow for 4 channels of PCIe to this SSD?
Thanks.

We need more information, most importantly your full system specs, particularly anything populating your PCIe slots and your CPU. If you are using an Athlon 2xxGE for example, then PCIe 3.0 x2 is correct as the Athlon has less PCIe lanes than it's Ryzen counterparts.

Thanks for the quick reply.
My system is a Ryzen 2700X. There is 1 GTX1070 in the PCIe slot, though I hope to SLi 2 1070s. I removed one to see if this allocated another PCIe lane to the drive. I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. The other nvme slot is empty. 32G of RAM.

I moved the 970 EVO and the GPU to an MSI x470 system. It is also a Ryzen 7 2700X
It correctly communicates at PCI3.0 x4 and the performance is nearly doubled as expected.

ASRock RMAd by previous motherboard and the new one is even worse. It does not even see the 970 nvme drive in the M.2 slot. .
