I finally completed building my pc today and can't seem to figure out how to get the ASROCK polychrome sync to work with Razer Chroma Connect.

Razer shows that the connection with the ASROCK software is up but the ASROCK software shows that Razer synnapse is not running. See the images below to see what I mean.

The controlling of the lights is working but not correctly. If i set the breathing effect in the Razer application all the lights in my system fade for a split second, hangs, continues, hangs, continues etc.. This choppy and glitchy lighting effect applies to the addressable RGB strip, normal RGB strip and G.SKILL ram. The funny thing is, if I drag the ASROCK Polychrome window around the desktop you can see when it hangs, the led strip animation stops and the fading continues when the window position is updating to the mouse position again.

What I tried:
  • Reinstalling both programs with various combinations of rebooting between installing
  • Updating the firmware manually using some of the methods described on this forum.
  • Removed the chroma SDK and used the installation files in the ASROCK program files folder.
  • Running both programs with compatibility settings.

PC specs:
i9-9900K
GSkill 3200MHz
windows 10 pro 1803
Z390 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ac (Bios 1.50)
Razer synapse version 3.4.216.21216
ASRRGBLED version 1.0.34.0

Did you ever find a solution? I am having the exact same problem. Our hardware is exactly the same but I am using the beta version 1.0.70 of the Polychrome software. Release version 1.0.60 does the same thing regarding the stuttering, laggy LED fades but with the additional problem of not controlling my G.Skill memory.

Yup, they spend their budget on marketing RGB and none on software development to make it actually work. Super frustrating.

Here is to hoping that they keep improving the software at a faster rate than they currently are (one or two revisions a year).

Dear forum users,

Thanks for posting your query to the ASRock forum.

We have checked into the problem by the following configuration:
-Z390 Phantom Gaming ITX/ac
-G.Skill TridentZ memory
-ASRock Polychrome RGB
-Razer Synapse 3(Beta)
-Win10 1909

RGB on the motherboard + RGB of the G.Skill memory modules are controlled properly with both ASRock RGB utility/Chroma Connect.

Here are the steps to enable the Chroma Connect:
Step 1. Install ASRock RGB 1.0.70
Step 2. Install Razer Synapse 3(Beta)
(While installing the Synapse, there will be a process to "select the software to install," make sure that Chroma Connect checkbox is checked.

Step 3. Launch the Synapse Software.
Step 4. Launch the ASRock RGB software.
Step 5. Check and see the ASRock icon is shown under the following section of
            Synapse Software.
            Synapse Software\Connect\Devices section

Step 6. Enable the Chroma Connect under ASRock RGB utility.
ASRock Polychrome RGB\Chroma Connect\Enable Chroma Connect

After following the steps above, RGB is able to control via the Synapse.
Hopefully, the steps above will help.

If the problem persists, try updating the Win10 to the latest version to see if the problem can be solved.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

The problem the OP and I are having has nothing to do with getting ASRockRGBLED to connect with Chroma. It connects fine and you are able to control the LED animations from Chroma.

The problem is with the smoothness of transitions from one color to another for anything connected to Chroma via the ASRockRGBLED application. For example, in a typical rainbow type animation (spectrum cycling in Chroma), my Razor keyboard will smoothly transition from red, to orange, to yellow, to green while the lighting connected to Chroma via ASRockRGBLED jumps directly from red to green, hanging on each color. Not only do the LEDs hang on the colors, but the actual ASRockRGBLED software hangs too.

The problem isn't consistent. It will operate properly, syncing perfectly with everything for N seconds, then randomly freeze on a color then jump X colors to catch up with whatever colors the other Razer Peripherals are on.

Here is a video displaying this behavior:
https://1drv.ms/v/s!AhxxGocPWe_Pgf9LwUv-FiRQoL6vgw?e=KwqPgu

My system consists of:
Z390 Phantom Gaming ITX/ac
G.Skill TridentZ memory
ASrock Polychrome RGB Version 1.0.70 Beta
Windows 10 1909
Synapse 3 Beta
Razer Synapse 3 Beta

can you select rainbow effect on razer synapse? or this effect only works on the keyboard but not on ASRock addressable led?

Dear SloppyDingo,

Thanks for the reply.

We are not able to see the hangs when the transition of RGB colors.
Regarding to the software hangs, kindly try the version v1.0.73 from the link below:

The hangs in the transition of colors in the RGB comes across much more subtly in the video compared to real life.

None the less, whatever changed in this version of software seems to have fixed the problem. Thank You!

Will this version be added to the Z390 Phantom Gaming ITX motherboard download section? The most current version for download there is the Beta 1.0.70 version of Polychrome.

Thanks again!
