I'm hoping someone here can possibly help me troubleshoot a new build I just put together.

I have a new B550M Pro 4 paired with a Ryzen 7 5700X processor along with 1 TB nvme, and some ram.

When I turn this thing on, I end up with 2 Reds lights on the board, the VGA light and Boot light, and can't seem to figure out what is causing it. I've seen some posts (via google) of others with similar issues, but no clear answer on its cause.

I have reset the RAM and NVMe and same thing happens, and I do not think it is an issue with the either CPU or Ram, but something else. I have also pulled and reset the both the main power and CPU power cables.

I do not have gpu card installed, and this where I get a little confused. Shouldn't I be able to use on the onboard VGA (or hdmi) port? I know the 5700x does have an igpu, but do I need a separate gpu card just to boot this thing?

The sticker on the bios chips shows P 3.4 so the bios should already be supporting the CPU correct?

Anyone have any ideas on what else to check and troubleshoot?

Well.

After a bunch more searching, I think I answered my own question and that I need to pick up a gpu card.   Its been probably 10+ years since my last build, and just reading that today's MB's not longer carry an integrated gpu and rely on CPU for it, which the 5700x does not have. So my options would be either upgrade the CPU or pickup a gpu card.

The machine is going to be a headless proxmox machine so I was never really considering the need for a gpu, but guess I'll order one tomorrow from somewhere.
