Subject: VVGA Driver Update Causes Windows 11 Pro Crash £N
Date Posted: 03 Jun 2025 at 2:34am
Hello,

I recently built a PC using the B860 PRO-A WiFi motherboard. After downloading and installing the latest VGA driver from ASRock?™s official website, my Windows 11 Pro system crashes immediately upon reboot. The only way to restore functionality is by rolling back to a system restore point prior to the driver installation.

I need to update the driver in order to properly utilize my dual monitor setup, but I'm stuck since any attempt results in system instability. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? What steps should I take to resolve this?

Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Try the driver from Intel's official page:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/785597/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-windows.html" rel="nofollow - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/785597/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-windows.html

The one on ASRock's page for your board is outdated. They don't usually update
vendor drivers there (intel, AMD). ASRock specific drivers do get updates though.

Good luck

Thank you for the suggestion. I downloaded and installed the driver from the Intel website, but I encountered the same issue. During the "Pre-installation" step Windows crashes and then I enter a boot/crash loop.

Try using the "Display Driver Uninstaller" utility (Google "DDU Download). You will
want to run it in safe mode (you can google a guide on how to enter safe mode in
windows 11 if you don't know how to).

After that you can try the install from a normal boot (not safe mode) and see if
that resolves your issue. Things like this can happen when you have leftover bits
of old drivers clogging up the works.

Good luck

Thank you again for the suggestions. Here?™s what I did:
- Installed .NET 9.0 from Microsoft to support the installation of Intel drivers from the Intel website.
- Downloaded DDU from Guru3D and uninstalled the existing drivers in safe mode. After this cleanup, Windows 11 became unstable and crashes.
- Rebooted into safe mode again and installed the Intel drivers using the provided executable from the Intel website. The installation completed successfully and prompted a reboot.
- However, upon booting into Windows 11 outside of safe mode, the system crashes before I can even log in.

Anymore suggestions? With each of your suggestions I seem inch closer to a resolution, therefore thank you for the ones provided so far.

I was about to type out an essay of things to try but then thought someone had
to have already made a tutorial... Check out this youtube video and try the steps
they show:

That pretty much covers everything I was going to suggest trying and in an easy
to follow guide.

Let's hope this gets you up and running. This is why I still use windows 10....

Thanks again for the advice, but once again I end up in the same situation...

Here's what I did:
-Updated Windows -> all updated fine w/o issue.
-Optional Windows update -> all updated fine w/o issue.
-Network Adapter update via Device Manger -> updated fine w/o issue.
-Ran dism and sfc, both ran w/o issue, but sfc did find a corrupt file and was able to repair the file.
-In Safe Mode: ran guru3 DDU -> ran fine, but when I ran Windows outside of Safe Mode, Windows start the crash/boot loop (non-functional).
-I boot in Safe Mode and run the Intel driver installer. Installer runs "successfully" but when I enter into Windows outside of Safe Mode, system crashes.
-In the UEFI I found that multimonitor support was not enabled so I enabled that and set the Chip Set graphics option to "Onoboard". I tried installing Intel drivers again, and again the system crashes.

I sent ASRock tech support an email, maybe they will have some insight. I'm still open to suggestions if you have any left, and thanks again for the help!

My only suggestion at this point would be to check for different driver versions
for your CPU's iGPU and test if any work and provide the functionality you need.
Starting with determining which version allows windows to function correctly (your
restore point) and working forward from there. Did you try enabling multimonitor
support with the drivers that work for you? Multimonitor was the reason you were
going to all the trouble to begin with wasn't it?

ASRock Tech Support should be able to help. Generally when looking for help here
on the forums it's a good idea to submit a support ticket at the same time and
include a link to your forum thread

I'm going to start discretely testing different drivers per your suggestion, but just want to mention that yes I did enable multimonitor support in the UEFI (IGPU Multi-Monitor = Enabled) and I set the Primary Graphics Driver to Onboard.

I've tried many different drivers now and they all leave me with an unstable system. Now I'm working with Intel, I'm thinking it's an issue with the IGPU on the Core Ultra 7 (series 2) processor or they do not have a driver available for my specific setup for that processor. At one point I was able to have both monitors working with an extended desktop for 30 seconds or so, therefore I believe I have all the BIOS/UEFI setting correct and it demonstrates that the monitors and cables are working properly. When I'm using the MS Generic Display Driver, both monitors work, but they just mirror one another.
