Build info: MB: ASRock X58 Extreme (Bios 2.9 w/ Spectre-Meltdown updates) CPU: Xeon X5675 (stock) RAM: 12GB (6x2GB) Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz DDR3 (running at 1333) GPU: XFX RX 560 4GB Single Fan OS: Windows 10
Everything works great with this setup, save for one little detail: When gaming or benchmarking, the event log is flooded with Warnings, up to multiple times per second.
WHEA-Logger, Event 17: A corrected hardware error has occurred.
Component: PCI Express Root Port Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)
Bus:Device:Function: 0x0:0x0:0x0 Vendor ID:Device ID: 0x8086:0x3405 Class Code: 0x30000
This device named is the Intel 5500/5200/X58 I/O Hub to ESI Port. A small handful of times, the device referenced changed to one of the other PCI Express Root Ports, which keys directly to the GPU -- but 99.9% only this device is named.
Aside from chewing up my logs and presumably having a related impact on performance, this error does not appear to affect usability at all. It just makes it very hard to diagnose other more legitimate problems.
I have tried changing out drivers for the referenced devices and/or the video card. I've tried changing power settings, and I've even tried disabling the AMD External Event service, with no change in behavior.
I have a limited amount of other cards to test in this system, but unless I missed something, the error does not appear with other older cards. In the hours I've spent Googling the issue, it seems like the most likely issue is that there is a timing discrepancy between the PCIE and the GPU. At least one individual Had the issue corrected by AMD with a VBIOS update -- though that was a different card.
Ideally, I'd like to find a proper solution, but I will settle for just disabling WHEA-logger somehow.

Updating this for those who might be interested in these ancient, wonderful beasts (the 1366 X58 platform, I mean).
Regarding the WHEA-Logger errors, changing the Diagnostic Policy Service from Auto to Manual prevents the error from flooding the log.
The error itself seems to be a REPLAY TIMER ERROR, and can be corrected with a new VBIOS with adjusted timings. However, I've also seen evidence of some motherboard manufacturers implementing a fix or workaround via BIOS updates (Intel and MSI appear to have done this, possibly others, but not ASRock.) While a bit of a stretch, someone with experience modding BIOS files could potentially craft one which implements the fixes from these others.
Anyway, just glad to be back to gaming in peace on this thing. Now, if support would ever respond to my request about my Ryzen board...
