I want to add Intel X540 Dual LAN 10Gb to GENOA2D24G-2L+, I used MCIO to PCIe adapter, MCIO cable x8, but It doesn't work. Windows and Ubuntu didn't recognize it. (I test it on PCIe slot on other motherboard, it worked normal). How can I extend to Dual LAN 10Gb for this motherboard.
Thanks

You can open a support ticket with ASRock Rack:

The industrial boards are quite different to consumer ones and not as commonly
used by members of the forums. Good luck

It sounds like you?™ve done solid troubleshooting already by confirming the Intel X540 card works on another motherboard. Since the GENOA2D24G-2L+ doesn?™t recognize the card via your MCIO to PCIe x8 setup, the issue might lie in MCIO lane mapping or BIOS support for external PCIe cards. Check your motherboard?™s manual or reach out to Supermicro support to verify whether the MCIO port supports PCIe bifurcation or external NICs. Also, ensure that the adapter and cable fully comply with the MCIO standard and aren't just power adapters.

As for extending Dual LAN 10Gb, if MCIO continues to pose issues, a direct PCIe slot (if available) or using a supported riser via a validated interface might be a safer path.

On a lighter note?”just like in digital dentistry, where 3D imaging must align perfectly with software for accurate diagnostics, hardware expansion also depends on compatibility and integration. Precision is key, whether you're upgrading servers or scanning teeth!
