Hi all,

I'm utterly perplexed here. I've got a Z790 Steel Legend that I'm using for a new media server build, I threw an i7 12700F (LGA 1700) and nothing .... Tried various different things, still nothing, thought it might be a BIOS issue (I never got to the BIOS on the i7) so threw a Celeron G6900 at it, perfect, straight into the BIOS, upgraded it to 20.2, set up the RAID, all good. Tried the i7 again, nothing, not a sausage. Tried the Celeron, fine. Okay, maybe the i7 is shot, I buy a new i7 and.... Still nothing. Am I going mad here? Am I missing something?

I think I've found the issue, a single bent pin on the motherboard.

What are the rest of your parts? Do you have a GPU? If not, the "F" SKU CPUs do not
contain an iGPU (they do but it's physically disabled). That would explain why the
Celeron POSTs but the i7 does not. As for the bent pin, it's rare a single bent
pin would cause the system not to POST but I believe bent pins can be covered under
warranty in some cases.

I would open a support ticket with ASRock and ask them:

Yep, I've got an Intel Arc in there, doesn't seem to be any output from it though, it lights up although the fans don't spin (I'm assuming as it's not drawing any real power so fans not required).

Cheers for that, switched the GPU from one slot to another and we're off. No idea why the hell that slot wasn't giving me output.
