I would like to know if anyone else has the same issue as I do. The issue is as following: every once in a while (there's no rule that I've noticed) my boot device priorities change. My PC works (and boots) perfectly for, let's say, 12 days in a row and on a 13-th day, I turn on my PC, and right before windows loading screen should appear, I get one line of weird symbols on black screen. After resetting my PC and entering BIOS, under boot options, I can see that my HDD (which does not contain OS) is set as primary boot device, and my SSD (which does contain OS) is disabled or set as secondary. After I set my SSD back as primary boot device, my PC boots and loads windows - perfectly. The same issue occurs again 9 days later, or 12 days, 16....as I said before, no rule as to when will it happen again.
My PC: MBO: ASRock B450M pro4 CPU: Ryzen 5 1600X RAM: 2 x 8 GB Apacer DDR4 2400MHz VGA: Gainward Phantom GTX 970 HDD: Samsung 500GB HD502HJ SSD: Crucial 256GB CT256MX100SSD1 SATA3 PSU: Gigabyte 700W 80+ bronze OS: Windows 10 pro
I should mention that right after assembling this PC, I've had issues with ASRock logo screen freeze described in this topic:
http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=9750&title=asrock-b450m-pro4-boot-problems
This happened to me, too:
C/P:"The issue occurs during the following steps:?
1. Turn on PC - This works... Boots into Windows 10 just fine, no issues. 2. Turn off PC - This works... Just FYI - all fans stop, computer is off as far as I know. 3. Turn on PC (right after turning it off, like 5 seconds later) - Makes it to the ASRock screen, but just sits there. I disabled graphical POST (with AsRock Logo), in attempt to see any messages. Only status code on screen is 'A0'"
Updating the BIOS to V1.50 fixed this issue for me.
So, did anyone else run into the same problem with boot devices changing "places" all by themselves?
Should I update BIOS to 1.60, or 2.00? V3.10 is, from what I've read so far, pretty buggy so I don't feel like taking a risk with it. Could updating the AMD all in one with VGA driver to latest version help? Or is there a possibility that my SSD is having some problems with this motherboard? Any help would be much appreciated.
