I build a new custom PC with the following specifications:

Board : ASRock X399 Phantom Gaming 6, Sockel TR4, ATX-Mainboard
CPU   : AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X, 16x 3.4GHz, boxed, TR4 CPU
Cooler: Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 TR4 Tower-Cooler
RAM   : 2x DDR4RAM 8GB DDR4-3000 Crucial Ballistix tactical Tracer RGB
Graf. : Zotac GEForce GTX 1060 AMP! Edition 6GB DDR5X
PSU   : Power Zone 750W ATX 2.4
NVME : XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro 512 GB PCI Express 3.0 M2

BIOS Defaults

What happens:

When i boot from a Windows 7 USB Stick (Installation Media), as soon as the first menu-interface (Country selection etc.) is displayed, the system seems to freeze. Keyboard and Mouse is not working, i can't do anything but pressing the shutdown or reset button.

I hope anyone here may help me with this problem

I am in similar situation, intend to run 1950x/2950x + x399 Taichi on Windows 7.

You need to PS2 keyboard/slipstream drivers during install. The following links have some good info

thanks for your solution!

i meanwhile decided to use the newest windows 10 version on usb, after i read this post:

http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=6615&title=important-windows-10-information-for-x399-users

installation works with windows 10 (dont know if it would have worked without disabling the IOMMU feature, since i disabled it from the start) - so that is sufficient for me right now.

Windows 7 is not officially supported on Threadripper so getting it to work takes a some creative tweaking on the installation media. For the average user I wouldn't recommend it, it can be quite time consuming and tricky to do. I remember when every installation of Windows NT required you to slipstream drivers for the particular platform, I was so happy when that process was phased out.
