This is a strange one... I suddenly noticed, that I have on: IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers -> an Standard SATA AHCI Controller, with yellow exclamation mark on it...
Device cannot start (code 10) An I/O adapter hardware error has occurred. PCI bus 0, device 4, function 0
Goes even stranger, Hardware Ids: PCI\VEN_1725&DEV_7174&SUBSYS_ED23F63D&REV_01
Which I found to be Vitesse Semiconductors: VSC7174 PCI/PCI-X Serial ATA Host Bus Controller
I don't recall having anything like this earlier... You actually don't find anything even with googling with that Hardware id... I found it by looking that vendor code and device code separately...
Any idea, where this might suddenly be coming from???

Sounds like a driver error OR you installed an app like Daemon tools that mimicks a real HD controller so you can "mount" ISO and other hard disk images.

I have Alcohol 120% installed, but I have disabled it's virtual drive. And it doesn't come up as a Vitesse controller even if I'd enabled it...
My drives are working and even if they weren't, I don't understand how it finds a Vitesse controller, as to my knowledge there isn't one in my mobo...

I stand corrected. I decided to check out the Alcohol 120% Virtual Drive more carefully and it was the SPTD-portion which made this problem. Uninstalling it removed the "ghost controller" and even installing the latest version didn't install it properly.
I don't use the virtual drive, so I just uninstalled the SPTD-driver...

I still want to specify, what happened here. Earlier there were 2 Windows 10 updates, which broke the SPTD-driver. It was fixed with W10 1809-version. Now it seems, that some update after that, has broken this again.
Just, if the people want to know, what made this problem ;)
