Topic: "B450 Steel Legend: Keyboard and mouse malfunctions after (re)installing Windows 11 25H2"

Hi!

I have been using the 'B450 Steel Legend' with Windows 11 Pro for several years. The last time I reinstalled the system was in early 2024 (Win11 23H2). At the end of October, I updated the system to Windows 11 25H2 and everything worked flawlessly.

Now I had to reinstall Windows 11 (25H2) and have been having massive problems with USB devices ever since.

My mouse pointer freezes for a few seconds several times a minute. And the lighting on my keyboard often goes out for a second. Copy operations to USB data carriers are interrupted randomly.

Even in the installer's WinPE window, the mouse pointer keeps freezing for 1-2 seconds.

Linux Live systems such as 'Linux Mint' work perfectly.

When I restore an image from the old system to the SSD, everything works as it should again.

The device manager does not show any problems. But in the event view there are some TPM key errors.

Since the old system from 2024 worked and still works, as do Linux Live systems, it seems to be a driver issue.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything on the internet about this issue and B450 chipsets. Perhaps this only affects the B450 Steel Legend.

It's suspicious that even the Windows installer is causing problems. Never seen this before.

Does anyone have any great ideas?

Thank you very much!
Thorsten

A few more technical details:

- AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
- Gigabyte RTX2060super
- 32GB RAM
- Cherry MX10.0N keyboard
- Logitech G502 Lightspeed mouse

I tried UEFI 4.60 and the newest 10.43beta.
I also tried it with Windows 11 24H2. But I can't get it to work. :(

Even after installing the latest AMD chipset drivers, the USB ports still do not function properly. What I don't understand is why it works with 25H2, which I updated from 23H2 via 24H2.

It seems that the issue is caused by the Logitech G502 Lightspeed mouse transceiver. After removing it from the USB port and using a cheap USB wired mouse instead, the Windows setup screen no longer shows any mouse or keyboard lag. O.o

However, I now have another driver-related problem, for which I will open a new thread. ;)
