Hi,

Helping friend build his first rig:

ASRock B450M Steel Ledgend
Ryzen 5 2600
Nvidia GTX 1660
2 x 8 GB DDR4 3000Mhz

1st boot failed because missed the 8 Pin CPU Power cable

2dn boot failed because because 2 x 4 Pin GPU power cable was not plugged

3rd boot, got the Bios on screen but error message when trying to install Windows 10 from USB stick. Tried several time but same result. Maybe Windows install on USB stick is faulty.

Boot from Linux live CD but error after a few seconds. Tried several times, same result.

The next day, took the rig home and uninstall all component. Motherboard on a text rig (Motherboard cardboard box) with only the 24 + 8 pin power cable. Bootloop every 30s.

Unplugged the 8 pin power cable and no bootloop.

Install GPU (CPU has no internal graphics), RAM (1 stick, 2 sticks, each time different slot, with and without front panel cables, removed GPU and all different combinations. Reset CMOS, removed battery.
Same result: 30s bootloop with the 8 pin and non without, no video in both cases.

I installed all components on a different MB and all run as expected.

Before I return the MB, any ideas of what I can try different? Or what might be the issue?

Thanks for your help!

Did you try another power supply?

Yes, same results with a different Power Supply. And the original works on a different MB. I have a feeling it's the MB. But how to make sure?

Are you using memory that is on the supported list?
Is the default memory settings for the slower settings or have you tried setting the memory to slower speed?
I have the memory at the faster speed in A2 and B2 slots. If placed in the A1 and B2 it takes awhile for things to get past bios and before it sets the memory to slower speed automatically on my mother board.

I have the issue with and without the RAM installed. I cannot even get to the BIOS/UEFI screen to make any changes.
