Hi all,
I Have a Z370 Extreme4 with an 8700K and a 1080 Ti card.
BIOS has been playing up a bit. Was on P3.20 but upgraded to 3.30 after a few issues with the XMP profile not staying activated. Memory is on QVL.
3.30 seemed fine and XMP ok, until Windows 10 1903 update when I started getting random crashes. Nothing else changed apart from Windows.
Reset BIOS to default settings which didn't seem to do anything apart from lose the XMP profile again. Easy to click the XMP back on but even shorting the CMOS pins didn't do anything.
At the same time, my graphic card started overheating when on high load and it had coil whine for a while. Thought crashes were maybe to do with that. Swapped for a brand new Seasonic 750w Power supply. Still crashing so tried card in another PC. No overheating or coil whine but that was with basic testing only.
Put it back in Z370 and crashes started to get worse. Now just restarting PC with no errors or Windows Events.
Installed a fresh Windows 10 and still crashes even though I didn't update to version 1903.
So, I hesitated but upgraded to the newest BIOS, P4.10 to see if that would let me have a completely clean slate regards BIOS settings and help with the crashes.
First flash didn't seem to work, still said P3.30 so tried again and it updated but I cannot reset to factory/default. Nothing happens. Shorted the pins, took the battery out etc but still no luck.
The red light beside BIOS chip A is now on which I don't remember being on before? Is this to show that the A chip is in use or that there is an error? Have seen both being mentioned.
Upshot is, the graphics card probably put me off the scent but is there something wrong with the board? I now have an RMA for the graphics card and an old R9 380 2GB in it. It's slow sloooow!!

Thank you for choosing ASRock.
Regarding your question, the red LED beside BIOS chip A is to show the BIOS chip A is in use now.
For system unstable, we provide some suggestion to try.
1. Update BIOS to the latest version.
2. Only install CPU, one stick memory to try. (With onboard graphic)
3. Install each memory once at each memory slot to try.
