I tried to install an EVGA GTX 750 Ti SC on my Z170M Extreme4 tonight.  The computer would not boot after the card was in place, and gave 5 beeps indicating that there was a problem with the video card.

After making sure the card was seated properly, and trying slot 3 just to make sure it was not a slot issue, I pulled the card out and the computer seems to be working fine, with one exception.

The rear fan controller does not appear to be working any more.    The fan runs at full speed and the rpms are shown, but it no longer slows down.

I was figuring on returning the video card as DOA, but now I am concerned the motherboard is damaged as well, and am worried about putting another card in, possibly damaging the new card.

I'm not sure what to do at this point.

I do not envy you, there is nothing worse than the feeling that one bad component may have damaged another. I think the best thing to do in your situation would be to reinstall the card and then clear CMOS as I described  http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=630&title=how-to-clear-cmos-via-battery-removal" rel="nofollow - here  then see if the system will post. It is always advisable to clear CMOS whenever installing a new piece of internal hardware. If it still will not work then remove and RMA it then clear CMOS again to see if the fan issue can be resolved with a CMOS clear.

I wound up replacing the video card with another one and the computer is now working.   I tried the CMOS clear battery pull, but the rear fan controller is still not throttling the fan.  My workaround was to use the front controller for all three case fans.

Thank you for your help!
