So I've been having an issue with my J4205-ITX motherboard coming out of sleep. When it does I can move the cursor for about 10 seconds then the system locks up.

I've been reading several issues with the HDMI port on this board and I'm wondering if this is connected to that.

My motherboard shipped with the 1.8 BIOS preinstalled.

I doubt it has anything to do with running Video from HDMI.
Different sleep modes turn off different things. Some shut off so much that if using any SATA drives or add-on cards they cannot be awakened instantly and can take 5-10 secs to fully wake up back up, specially if doing "suspend to RAM". Have you tried moving the mouse and then waiting about 30 secs before trying anything else to see if it is still locked up ?
Also check the Power Management settings in your OS as you may have to make some changes and not put the board in such a deep sleep.
