As I am sure most of you know by now, Ryzen 3000 has launched and there are BIOS updates available to support it. As with second gen Ryzen launch I am seeing a lot of first and second gen Ryzen users updating to the latest BIOS and having issues with their systems.

Please guys, if you are not upgrading to Ryzen 3000 DO NOT UPDATE your BIOS at this early stage. In a few months all these teething issues should be resolved and you can try out the latest BIOS version if that is of interest to you. Generally speaking, if your system is working as intended and you do not have issues with the BIOS then don't update. Ryzen in particular is a fickle beast that is prone to issues from one BIOS version to the next.

Most of the changes in the new updates are explicitly to add Ryzen 3000 support and will have absolutely no benefit to first and second gen Ryzen systems.

This advice will likely apply for all future Ryzen launches and even to intel systems when a new CPU range is launched on an existing socket.

I agree. I only updated to BIOS 3.40 with my 2700x and have no issues at all. I did this for when I'm ready to buy my 3700x (no more 3900x I don't need it). With 3.40 I can just put the 3700x in and upgrade again to a more stable BIOS. I'm in no rush to buy a 3700x I will most likely buy one toward the end of Sept early Oct when all issues should be ironed out.

The Ryzen 3k bios(5.50) for the X370 Killer SLI/AC is missing the LLC settings. Because of this my overclock is no longer stable. Which is pretty annoying as I require every bit of performance as possible from my rig for work. The difference between 3.7GHz and 4.0GHz on my Ryzen 7 1700 is massive in my workloads.

Hopefully they'll add it back as that's kind of an important part of having a stable overclock on any CPU.

I updated even though I don't have a ryzen 3k processor because of the ability to OC the FSB Therefore allowing better OC especially with single core. My MoBo was perfect with the 5.40 BIOS. Now i'm stuck on 5.50 after RMAing my board for a power delivery issue.

Since I can't find an edit button for my previous post. My RGB application also refuses to start even on clean install. Didn't have that issue with 5.4.   RGB control works fine from within the BIOS though.

Having my R3 1200 @ 4GHz using latest bios (6.0) on AB350 Pro4, and it's all working great here. Only thing I couldn't OC is my RAM, but that's because RAM i have is not the one for overclocking, and I think it's always better to just get a faster RAM, instead of OC'ing it. I only tried to OC my RAM, never intended to keep it OC'ed. But anyways, it works great with R3 1200. I do plan on getting Ryzen 3000 series cpu as soon as I can.

Hi There all,
-posted this in an older forum page, but i hope it helps-
I'd like to report, if still relative to anyone, that I did get my new R5-3600x running nice and normal using bios 5.81 on my Asrock b350 Fata1ity itx/ac FINALLY after days of tinkering with Corsair and Ballistics kits and posted bioses up to 6.0. To no avail even though with 1st gen Ryzen 1600, 1700 and 2400G had no probs with any reasonable setting or over clocks. Then I got a 16G kit of G-Skills 3200C16D-16GSXKB-16-18-18-38 from a friend in exchange for my Ballisticts kit. Soon after I managed to get into the bios after days of tinkering between my R5-1600 and bios' 4.70, 5.30, 5.70, and 6.0 which none of let me enter the bios with my usual AMD fore mentioned 3000 Corsair and 3200 Ballistics. Then I tried the G-Skills and got into bios 5.70 more often during boot cycles which I had let run over and over till it stopped cycling w/ just fans were full throttle and try again changing bios setting until i got less and less cycles between successful bios screens. what I realized is, Gen 1 boards or Gen 3 Ryzen 5 or the combo needs 1.4v on memory, memory set to 3000mhz because max Infinity Fabric on Gen 1 boards is 1500 max and it defaulted here setting different mem and voltage though all my attempts at successful boots. Also I cant restart the board, must be fully shut down to enable a stable boot that is and has been stable through all my test. Sometimes, i still get a boot cycle but only 1-3 times max and retain all setting as default in bios 5.81 (the ONLY bios that works for me WITH THESE G-SKILLS) Also, it improved further when after enabling XMP and setting mem down to 3000 with 1.4v, I then tightened timings from the stock 16-18-18-38 down to 14-16-16-34 and now my system is pretty consistent in all my benches and games, peppier and higher scores. eg. Cinebench before tightening was 1075 score :( to 1635 :) So, I hope this is helpful for someone out there. My games no longer experience the stuttering they once were with my R5-1600 being bottle necked. Now a Happy Camper here and new life out of my 1080ti and work bench!

Without LLC there's severe vdroop on vcore.   Making any type of overclocking extremely difficult. My CPU is seeing a minimum 10% reduction in performance due to this.

Pictures of vdroop and performance drop included here https://imgur.com/a/MFVhkSt

This wouldn't even be a problem if I could roll back, but taking away the ability to downgrade the BIOS then dropping performance by a large margin is nuts.

Do you have troubles accessing the bios on chipset b450 with Ryzen 2xxx series ? I have the p2.30 bios (not UEFI becase of MBR partition) and I can't access the bios ! It freezes when I push any button at start.

You should always run Ryzen in UEFI mode and not old bios.

What about when they pull a BIOS that we've already installed? They removed the 1.72 for the x570 Phantom Gaming 4, but I flashed it the day it came out, Oct 17th, now it's gone and a new beta version went up.

How do I find out why it was pulled?

Wow, this forum is dead.

I guess the answer is just update to version 2.0 and don't worry about it.

Here's a thought perhaps if you stopped posting crap bioses OR actually provided support we would not be having issues.

I have had issue with Bios 5.40, 5.60, 5.70 and now the 5.80 Bios for the x370 Gaming X not recognizing the AMD raid array as a boot device!

I've opened 4 support tickets, and all I get from support is the same dumbass answer, of here's how you set it up.

Folks I've told them I have it running on 5.50 booting from the raid array with no problem so it should be clear that I may know what I am doing yet support keeps sending the here's how you configure it.

So it's clear that the support monkeys, are not interested in doing their jobs, so perhaps no one should buy your products?

just a thought I should not have to open 4+ support tickets to fix something you occasionally get working right. 5.50 works let's try plugging the Agesa into that version maybe...

Well I had to update my b450 Fatality 4K to 3,5 even though it was not recommended. When Red Dead Redemption 2 came out there was a lot of AMD systems which could not run the game. I tried everything but when I updated the bios to 3,5 it worked.

Why is Asrock the only company who would not recommend updating their bios when running a Ryzen 1 or 2?

So finally support gets back to me.

Only took 4 attempts.

I told them I shot video of the Bios 5.50 working and how it was configured.

Then shot video of flashing to 5.60 and 5.80 and it not working.

SO support gets back to me and says Can you pleas upload it to us?

I say sure send me a ftp link. They say no way get a drop box account and post it to them.

What kind of company doe not have a mechanism to upload support information.

BAD BAD ASROCK Now fix your dam bioses, and do better with your support!

Hello everybody! I bought Fatal1ty X370 Professional Gaming. Installed BIOS 5.80. But I have a ryzen 2700X. Can I return BIOS 4.80? And is it difficult or not?

I recently purchased the B450 pro4-f board and the Ryzen 1600 af.

The CPU compatibility checklist shows the cpu is supported as of p2.0, but my board is on 1.6.

I go download the BIOS and it recommends not flashing if using pinnacle ridge, but so does the BIOS the board is currently using.

Let's just say I'm confused and in need of help. Should I update or no?

Ignore the recommendation and just update to the latest version. I will be reaching
out to my contacts at ASRock about it. It was added when Ryzen 3000 launched because
a lot of people that didn't have Ryzen 3000 CPUs updated and had issues with
early releases that supported 3000.

I have a Fatal1ty B450 Gaming K4 with BIOS 4.10. MB no longer reports MB temp/volts in HWiNFO or BIOS screen. Only CPU temp/volts. I'm going to try and reset BIOS to factory and see if it fixes.

4.10

And why boot logo ASrock hang for 60-80 sec? It's very annoying. And after what weird bios update it's very scary to do bios update in future. ASRock why you doing that bad things with your respectable buyers. Fatality would not approve that, too shame.

I have the B450M Pro4 running a Ryzen 5 3600. My original BIOS version was P3.80. I just updated to P3.90 and now my XMP no longer sticks, nor does my AMD PBO setting. When I try to set them and reboot, my screen hangs for about a minute, and then the system reboots itself. When I boot up, the XMP profile for my RAM and PBO setting for the processor have been turned off. I figured I would just revert back to the 3.80 version but when looking at the BIOS page for my board, 3.80 doesn't exist. There's 3.60 then 3.90. Did my board come preinstalled with a beta BIOS and that's why it's not listed?

I would love to be able to set PBO in my BIOS again and be able to run my RAM at the speed I bought it for. With XMP it's at its correct speed of 3200MHz, without it the board drops it down to 2400MHz. Should I bite the bullet and downgrade to 3.60 and pray I get these two things back? I'd much rather have 3.80 back since I know it worked, lol.

Hello,
I'm from Germany (excuse my bad English) and have huge problems with my Fatality X370 Gaming X and the last BIOS update 5.90 . I updated for my RYZEN 7 3700X CPU and to get the latest Agesa version.
After the update from 5.60 to 5.90 the board always booted twice and reset all BIOS settings I made to the default values. Furthermore the Dr. Debug display does not work any more and shows only "AA". Even after I downgraded the BIOS to versions 5.50 and 5.60, these errors remained permanent.
After I contacted the Asrock support they sent me a bios version 5.91, which only fixed the Dr. Debug problem.
So I am sure that the 5.90 update destroyed the motherboard BIOS.

After further weeks of tough negotiations with the Asrock support they were willing to send me a replacement board in exchange for my board. For the shipping from/to the Netherlands I had to pay 30 ?? When after more than 3 weeks the DHL package with the replacement board still hadn't arrived at my place and I demanded compensation from Asrock, they sent me a replacement board via UPS for the 2nd time, which arrived at my place after 2 days.
This X370 Gaming X was already updated to BIOS version 5.90 and worked perfectly after installation - except for Dr. Debug, which still has no function!
With this and the (unofficial) update 5.91 it is now proven that the BIOS version 5.90 is not only full of bugs, but can even destroy the whole motherboard irreparably.

Try to set SOC and VDDG voltages in bios on tab, where you enable your XMP profile. Values for these fields coud be obtained from Ryzen Ram Calculator.

Also any info on inc AGESA 1.0.0.5 for Gaming K4, Pro4 etc.?

AsRock B450 Gaming K4 here, I have issue with my all cores boost in cinebench etc., my 1600AF boost only to 3440MHz like old 1600AE CPUs. Single core boost are OK 3700, sometimes I see even 3800+ after gaming in HWMonitor.
Yday I revert to 3.50 to check but no difference, its same. Now Im back to 3.90 again.
CPU Temps are fine, max 54c in blender, 51c in Cinebench.

Anyone has experienced something similar? Is it CPU bad piece or can be motherboard/bios. If you check userbenchmark data you can see that majority are boosting 3600+ all cores with 1600AF. So im at -200MHz at least. For now im blaming AsRock.
Im curious why cpu multiplier is reaching only x34.5 when rendering... it should reach x37. What can be the reason, any ideas?

Hello Everyone,

Couple days ago I bought ASRock B450 Pro4 and oryginaly IT Shop made a bios update on 4.10 of course I told then to update only up to 3.50 (last stable one), but they made a mistake. So sometimes I have boot loop, and all setting goes to default in bios and it's very annoying (all fans, ssd, OC settings are forgotten and goes default... :/). So can anyone know why??? - one thing that without OC it's better... less boot loops (Ryzen 2600 @ 4,025 GHz @ 1,325 V) - OCCT couple of hours no errors... Maybe go to downgrade to 3.50? But is it possible. Thanks for help! ;)

Regards, Max

Hello everyone, a couple of days ago I orderd an Asrock A320M but the supplier sent me an A320M-HDV R4.0 with the 3.7 BIOS, for that one, the page says "ASRock do NOT recommend updating this BIOS if Pinnacle, Raven, Summit or Bristol Ridge CPU is being used on your system."

I want to use that motherboard with a Ryzen 7 1700, could I make it work with the 3.7 BIOS? or maybe, could I downgrade?

I want to return it, I already notified the store who sold me the motherboard, but their customer service kinda sucks :/ and it will take from 1 to two weeks to get a proper response from them.

Thank you.

You will be fine with 3.7, no need to downgrade. 3.7 simply has no benefit for
older generation Ryzen CPUs so if you are using an older version there is no need
to update. It doesn't break anything however so using it is fine. The warning is
simply to discourage people from updating unnecessarily.

I am having great difficulties getting my computer with the X470 Tachi to POST after installing BIOS version 3.90 due to upgrade from a 2700 to 3900X. Pressing the power button will start the fans at full speed for at least a 2 to 3 seconds if it works, or the fan will continue at full speed perpetually. Cleared CMOS twice, once via the button behind, and once taking out the CMOS battery. Both did not help. Saw some advise in another forum saying to increase RAM voltage, but did not resolve the issue as well. I did not overclock the CPU, and the RAM was running fine with the 2700. In fact once I boot into Windows, the system is very stable even under stress test on CPU, memory and graphic card. So I rule a faulty or unstable hardware as the issue. So that leaves me with the doubt if the BIOS is causing this instability. I've only changed the CPU and left all my previous hardware as is.

As an update, I've downgraded the BIOS from P3.90 to P3.60 and the failure to POST issue seems to have gone away. Now I do observe another potential issue where the most of the cores on the 3900X seems to be parked/ in sleep mode as shown on Ryzen Master. To illustrate the problem, I tried running Cinebench R20 after flashing the BIOS to see if there are any problem with loading the cores. What I observed is that despite running the multicore test, only cores in CCX0 are running (only 1 running at full speed, while rest in CCX0 are running at a very slow clockspeed), while the remaining cores are parked/ inactive. As a result, the benchmark took a long time to complete. I've not been able to pin point what is the cause, but Cinebench was able to harness the processing power of all 12 cores with P3.90 BIOS, and very quickly complete the test. If the readings on Ryzen Master is accurate, it seems like another teething issue.

Hello everyone, I've sold my i5 and now am upgrading to Ryzen 3300x.
I've bought AB350M-HDV-R4.0 motherboard and have learned that I'll probs have to flash bios to the version that is needed for the Ryzen 3300x.

Motherboard will come with the bios version that it was packed with.

What I want to know before I proceed with flashing it. On 3.70 its written to read the previous version description which is 3.30, then its written the same. Which goes to 2.10, where its said " Please install "AMD all in 1 with VGA driver ver:18.50.16.01_WHQL" or a later version before updating to this BIOS."

Now my questions are:

1. Can I check the version of BIOS by just connecting the motherboard to powersuplly and a monitor? Without CPU, drives or RAM.
2. Can I flash 3.70 version without installing the previous one if there is a gap between versions? Do I need the AMD all in 1 with VGA driver if I just go straight for 3.70?
3. Will this be possible without Ryzen 1 or 2 gen CPU in first place?
4. What do you recommend on how to proceed once I receive CPU and motherboard?

Unfortunately, you can't perform a BIOS flash without a CPU that this board can current support. If you can still return it, I suggest you do that and get a B450 board that is flashed with the latest BIOS to support the Ryzen 3000 series. Just reconfirm with the seller/ distributor of the board if possible before buying.

I do not recommend the new BIOS 2.80 for the X570 Steel Legend motherboard. Saving settings to disk does not work, Crucial 3600 RAM working with the previous BIOS at 3733 MHz does not work even on XMP settings - the system does not start. Many settings have disappeared from the Advanced \ AMD CBS \ menu. I went back to version 2.60.

Similar issue .. my 2 x 16GB HyperX Predator 3200mhz will only do XMP now ..with 2.60 I had it running at 3800mhz with IF @ 1900 (1:1). It looks like they pulled the file now.

I was having strange issues with the v2.80 on my x570 Steel Legend. Shutdown (from Windows) would take several minutes to actually power OFF the chassis.

Reverted back to the older BIOS and it is fixed now.

Just downloaded BIOS 2.8 for X570 Extreme4. like others as soon as I enabled XMP for the NEOs I have (which btw are made for AMD :P) system just hangs on bootup and the fan on Prism goes full jet engine. I ended up resetting bios and went back to 2.6 which XMP works like a charm.

I have a x570 Phantom 4 Gaming MB which has been running 2.60 BIOS with no problems. I just updated to 3.00, and everything went to hell. Mainly, the apps (reboot to UEFI, Phantom Gaming Tuning, and App Store) no longer work. I get the same error for all of them - Program/Utility does not run on this platform. I tried the BIOS with default settings - same problem. Downgraded to 2.60 and everything is fine again. ASRock needs to pull this 3.00 bios until it's fixed.

I have also issues when upgrading ASRock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming K4 motherboard from P3.50 > P4.10 in which my Pc keeps resetting while using it. Since yesterday I tried with P3.90, but it seems my Pc got a reset once again. Because it was on the Windows login screen, and in the event viewer I saw a critical error about an unexpected system shutdown. With BIOS version P3.50 my Pc never reboots or freeze while working, gaming or processing. Strange huh?

I had same problem on my B450 Gaming K4 with 4.10. Cant believe still not fixed and even 4.20 has same issue?? after months
Is this only on B450 Gaming K4, can more ppl confirm that 4.20 is really bugged too?

B450 pro4 is very similar mb Im curious if their new BIOS is working properly.
I dont know what to say, this is super bad, I regret picking this brand. We dont know when If they ever fix this... how can we know if is fixed some day??? Are they gonna release new version or will replace 4.10, 4.20 with working one without changing version numbers.

What exactly is the problem ?
I just built a B450 Gaming K4 with BIOS P4.20 and the "M/B Temperature" is there for me.
I do not understand the problem.

language barrier it seems, but I'm not sure what kind of issue you are having? You can try and roll back to 3.90 as some are having issues with 4.20 and 4.10 BIOS revisions..

Hey JZ, your is working fine. What is the CPU? Is it possible to be caused by the CPU, if is 2nd gen for example.
I had same issue(as Debido666 screenshot) with 4.10 with Ryzen 1600AF. Now im on 3.90 which is working fine and im scared to update coz we see same problem on 4.20. I have some boost issues, it boost my 1600AF to only 3440MHz all cores while rendering, thats why I tried 4.10 in 1st place.

You can check Debido666 posted sceenshot in this topic what is the issue. Its not showing MB temp, Voltages or anything from motherboard monitor, maybe only cpu temp. Not only in BIOS and in Windows is same, HWMonitor, AIDA64 are not showing.

My original BIOS was 3.50 on brand new B450 Gaming K4, I update right to 4.10. Skipping one BIOS version. Is it possible this to be the reason? I doubt. Or maybe because is old CPU. Im curious what cause this problem.

Dude same here, the newest BIOS for the X570 Taichi is an absolute disaster.

Won't even post on QVL'ed 3600MHz RAM running at 3600MHz (all I did was enable XMP). Have to clear CMOS, try again, and it boots at 2133. Even then, I can't even spend 30 seconds in the operating system without it crashing and then being a PITA to get to post again.

I even had to use another computer to load the previos BIOS onto my flash drive, clear CMOS, have everything at stock, and then I was able to flash to the previous BIOS. And on the X570 Taichi as well, most of the settings have been removed on the newest BIOS, including some that are critical to my system's stability (like setting the Power Supply Idle to "Typical Current Idle," which is required for the best stability on some Zen 2 CPUs).

How can we report this to ASRock? It doesn't seem like a Technical Support form situation, but if it is, I'll gladly fill one out.

Hello,

I've updated my X570M Pro4 to BIOS 2.90 (from 2.60). Everything seems fine except most AMD CBS options have been removed. I don't need many of them, only one in fact, which I found very useful:

AMD CBS > NBIO Common Options > SMU Common Option > Max Voltage Offset

Description: "Limit maximum CPU voltage for compact coolers, small form factor or performance tuning"

This is not the same as setting a Voltage Offset in OC Tweaker which can cause clock stretching.

"Max Voltage Offset" limits the voltage that Precision Boost is allowed to use by up to 100mv, which lowers max boost clock speeds slightly. I'm using quite a small case and it reduced my temps by 10C to 12C and allowed me to run fans slower, making my system silent under full load.

I hope it can be added back!
Thanks

Hi all, many apologies if this has been answered already but I went through the thread and couldn't find a definitive answer.

I currently have a 2700X running in an X470 Taichi which came with 3.60 preinstalled. I have had some minor issues with memory (had to slacken the tRC to run at XMP speed, can't seem to achieve any memory OC beyond that), and am wondering if a change in BIOS might help or if 3.6 might in any way be affecting performance or stability with this combo.

So three questions, I guess. Is this likely to be a factor?; Are later BIOS versions okay to try with this combo (2700X/X470 Taichi)?; and if not would it be beneficial to try downgrading to 3.50?

Thanks :)

Good afternoon everyone, I want to share my problem on the AsRock B450M Pro-4 F.
After installing the new BIOS, the processor stopped working at its declared frequencies, that is, the declared processor frequencies in the turbo boost should reach up to 4000 MHz in loads, but at the moment it works maximum in any applications, games or tests at a frequency of 3850 MHz, and higher in general does not rise, who can help in this situation, all drivers are installed new.

Thanks for the heads up OP!

X370 Taichi - BetaBIOS L6.32 working well for me with 3700X

Seems to have resolved the BIOS boot loop issue that occurred soon after BIOS version 6.20 was applied on my X370 Taichi.

Issue occured after I reset the CMOS and I then had to install an 1800X to downgrade the BIOS to version 5.60.

I noticed through the years that this is a common issue coming back every time.
Of course it's good to warn people everywhere that different CPU's on the same board require different builds, how why Asrock throws them all in one list is something of discussion too.

Just having 3-4 tabs under BIOS to direct the customer to the correct CPU used might solve this like day and night.

After coming from 2.0 to 2.3 I started have WHEA-Logger related system crashes, further details led to believe it had something to do with the system having an error checking the bluetooth device.
It was crashing with and without drivers installed. Active use would aggravate the system to crashing as I was able to leave it on for hours without it crashing; but as soon as I started opening up and used different apps it would crash again and again.
Then yesterday I found out they released a new update (2.6). I prayed it would fix my problem and that it wouldn't crash itself during a flash update.
Lo and behold, I'm typing to you on my laptop next to my brick, awaiting ASrock's reply.

Paired with Ryzen 1700 on the Gaming K4 & Ryzen 1600 on the Killer SLI.
I know, I know, it says not to use on rigs with older CPUs, but I'd already updated and couldn't go back, so just kept on keeping.

I don't own the x470 Master SLI anymore .. but you'll get better performance out of a 3700x over your 2700x .. you can raise the fclk and you'd want to bump up the speed to 3600 CAS16'ish and go from there .. and run your fclk (infinity fabric) to match (1800) .. if it's a decent memory controller on your friends 3700x, go for 3800 CAS16 w/fclk 1900

I agree.

With version 3.0, my RAM runs at 3733 MHz. With version 3.30, it will not run even at 3600 MHz when the XMP profile is loaded. At 2666 MHz, the system boots.

It was that way with the 2.80 release.. 2.60 before it worked great.

X570 Creator motherboard.
I upgraded the BIOS from 3.0 to 3.1
Now the motherboard no longer boots when the "LOAD XMP Settings" is set to "XMP". Only on AUTO it boots correctly.
With all previous versions of the BIOS I did not have this issue.

Memory = 32 GB (slots A2 and B2) Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK32GX4M

I also flashed version 3.13.
Unfortunately, it gives the same issue: it keeps rebooting until I switch off the power. On power-on the BIOS is set back to default.

Why spending money on faster memory when this expensive board does not support it???

Same problem here on ASrock B550m Steel Legend.

P1.20 (Agesa 1.0.8.0) works fine with XMP.

P1.50 (Agesa 1.1.0 0) - once I loaded XMP (3600Mhz CL16 kit - 16-19-19-39 Trident Z Neo CJR/DJR) it boot looped - clearing CMOS fixed and RAM back to 2133Mhs

P1.52 (Agesa 1.1.0 0 Patch C) - same problem.

The above confirmed with a Ryzen 3600 installed. Also exact same problem with 5800x installed.

Does anyone know if I can roll back to P1.20 with my 5800x installed (and therefore use XMP).

Are the QA people of ASRock visiting this forum? Will they be aware of the issues mentioned here? Or is there another way to alert these people to wake up?

Same issue here. 3900X works great with XMP on 1.20 (GSkill 4x8gb 3600 16-19-19-19 kit) - With 5900X installed, both 1.50 and 1.52 boot into Windows but XMP will cause boot loop.
