i have a x470 gaming k4, i am running bios 1.90 right now and noticed that there are several newer ones to be had. i have never been able to find the setting to enable PBO and wanted to update my bios, every time i have tried to do so i get the error that secure flash check fail. i have cleared the bios and used all default settings, tried to remove all my drives, all things that i have found by googling the problem. i downloaded all the different bios from the official sight and none of them will flash for me. tried F6, tried instant flash and still nothing works. is there a problem with these bioses? my machine is running ok as of now, but thats not really the point. I hear all this great stuff about the PBO and i cant even use it. and i would really like a somewhat more up to date bios. i love this motherboard, but i am starting to second guess my purchase at this point as i have been building comps since the old athlon XP days, and have never had this hard of a time with a bios.

The update problem is strange. Maybe a USB stick problem / VFAT32? Tried another USB port? But if you do not have a Matisse CPU, there is no reason to update higher as 1.90!
B]PBO:/B] It would be helpfull to know which CPU you are using. You must have a 2000X CPU for PBO. Meaning, for 2600 or 2700 without "X" PBO is not available.
No PBO on X470 board: http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=11885&KW=PBO&PID=65303&title=x470-taichi-bios-343-where-is-pbo#65303

i am using a 2600 non X cpu. getting ready to install a 3800X and that is why i am updating the bios in advance.
i have tried all of the usb ports both on the motherboard and up front. i am getting a new usb stick today and will see if that helps.
the secure flash failed is a very common problem, i have found hundreds of cases of it happening online.

Advanced\CPU Configuration\AMD fTPM switch must be disabled for a bios update, i guess. https://superuser.com/questions/1411061/amd-ftpm-what-does-this-firmware-option-do
