Not sure I'm understanding the the storage QVL for the X570M Pro4 correctly: https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/X570M%20Pro4/#Storage If I understand correctly all the SSD's listed as PCIe3 x4 are Hyper M.2 / PCIe Gen4 X4?
In other words I'll get fastest read/write speeds available/supported with any SSD listed as PCIe3 x4
Hope that makes sense, thanks in advance.

This list has nothing to do with fastest read/write speeds. Are you dreaming?
Note1: The configuration of products we successfully tested, can be subject to change.
As said, the devices are just successfully tested (for functionality). Corsair MP600 Gen.4 PCIe 1TB and 2TB are the only with PCIe Gen4 X4. How fast these drives really are is unknown (you have to look for reviews/tests elsewhere). From my point of view it is too early for Gen.4 PCIe NVMEs. I would wait until Samsung brings 980Pro/EVO with Gen.4 PCIe. Samsung drives act like a reference. Anyway, good Gen.3 PCIe NVMes are good enough today.

Thanks for the explanation, looks like I might have been dreaming. Ok, I'll forget about chasing down the latest and just settle for a Samsung 960 EVO.
