I want to populate a Taichi Ultimate with an M.2 drive, which takes some amount of PCIe, doesn't it? And the following three PCIe cards
1) Geforce GTX 2070, which requires an indeterminate number of lanes.
2) NI PCIe-8381 which requires 8 lanes.
3) Areca ARC-1264il-12, which also requires 8 lanes.
The computer will also make use of both gigabit and builtin 10Gb.
The cooler will be an NH-U14S and the case a Fractal Design Define R6 USB-C.

The M.2 runs off the lanes for the SATA devices. When a M.2 device is used two of the SATA ports are disabled as they share lanes with the M.2 slots. Some boards do the disable automatically and some the user needs to manually do the disable

Thanks for your reply. So you're saying that if I populate with four SATA drives and an M.2, two SATA slots become disabled. Exactly which PCIe slots will become or need to be disabled, too?

The PCIE does not share lanes with the Sata. The PCIE lanes are off the cpu. Sata lanes come off a separate controller.

Dear Mauricev,
Z390 Taichi Ultimate supports 8 SATA ports and 3 M.2 slots. If M2_2 is occupied by a SATA-type M.2 device, SATA3_3 will be disabled. If you only have one PCIe M.2, install at M2_2 slot will not disable any SATA ports. https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/Z390%20Taichi%20Ultimate/index.asp#Specification
Thank you! Yours truly, ASRock TSD
