Hello. I'm planning to buy z390 Taichi and i7-9700KF in a couple of days. I don't know which bios version the motherboard will have by default. Will it let me at least boot to bios with R0 stepping i7-9700KF on pre-4.00 bios version? I would like to receive an official answer or answer from real users that had experience with these MB and CPU.

Dear n718,
Thanks for posting your query to ASRock forum. Forum is a great place to find out the answers that you need.
Yes, 9700KF will boot with BIOS 4.00 on Z390 Taichi just fine. https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/Z390%20Taichi/index.asp#CPU
Since 9700KF does not have the integrated graphics, please make sure to install a graphics card on the system when booting.
Also, for the BIOS that comes with the board, please do double-check with the vendor and see if the BIOS on the board is 4.00 or newer, if not, kindly check with the vendor to see if they can update the BIOS for you.
Hopefully, the information above helped.
With thanks, ASRock TSD

| Thanks, so if i understand correctly, this CPU will not work at all if bios version is lower than 4.0? Motherboard will not allow me to boot and update from flash drive? And if there is no way to check it with vendor beforehand, then i shouldn't buy it? (i don't have my own compatible cpu for bios updating)

Your understanding is correct, however if the bios is a lower version get the least expensive cpu from the support list and use that to upgrade the bios, then replace it.
This is a very common issue, mostly with AMD product.
Good luck

Alright, then I'll try to find MB with updated bios. Buying another cpu is not a very good option. Anyway, thanks for help

I have the Z390 Taichi and i9-9900kf with 32GB of G.Skill TridentZ c14.
My temps are fine except that the Tjmax temp shows as 115c using Core Temp. I don't know if that value is correct.
Other temps are all around 33 and around 50 with playing BF4. I am using the Noctua NH-U12S cooler.
I was wondering what your Tjmax value is using Core Temp?

Tjmax is not an actual temperature, it's a thermal limit of your CPU. Mine is 115 as well. Don't worry about it.

THanks for the reply!
The Tjmax/Tjunction for the 9900KF is 100, so I now assume that Core Temp is not getting the correct value, and never changes.
