I have this board since few days ago. Currently I have NVMe SSD on the back of the mobo. From there, when booted into Windows 10, TB3 works great for storage. I tried with 3-4 different USB-C enclosures, some with NVMe drives and some with regular old HDDs - all worked as expected.

Where it does not work is booting from USB-C enclosures (it has NVMe SSD inside, if it matters) connected to it. BIOS/UEFI simply does not list them, Boot Menu does not show them, like it?™s not there. I am absolutely sure that disk is bootable, tried on a different computer, it appears just fine as bootable option, even booting my Macbook Pro with the enclosure. Tried 2 diff. NVMe enclosures with different disks, 3 different cables, no dice.

Using latest 2.00 BIOS.

Anyone has any idea what could be the issue, what to try??

Motherboard originally came with 1.00 BIOS version. Thus I downgraded to that, then tested how it works with each subsequent update.

Disk attached to TB3 is not available as boot option with neither of them.

Up to version 1.7, I can use the same USB-C enclosure but connected to USB-A 3.2 Gen2 port and it boots up fine.
In version 2.0, that same enclosure is visible as boot option, Windows logo + spinner appear but it then never switches to desktop.

Thus I'm now on BIOS 1.70, where at least booting through USB-A ports works.

All in all, TB3 port, being the primary reason to purchase this motherboard, is so unreliable that I don't recommend it to anyone.

I sent technical support request but unless something can be done, I'll have to RMA this board. This was my first encounter with ASRock products and it's far from good.
