Every once in a while my sound system freezes the computer for about two seconds and makes a scretching noise that could wake up the dead. This can happen at any time but only when the sound system is in use.
BIOS is: P4.20, 07/23/2019

Hi ASDude,
Thank you for your waiting.
Here we have some suggestions you can try:
1.Enter BIOS setup and load BIOS default settings via [F9] key and press [F10] to save the settings and exit. 2.Reinstall the Realtek audio driver from our website. https://download.asrock.com/Drivers/All/Audio/Realtek_Audio%28v8668_UAD_WHQL_DTS%29.zip" rel="nofollow - https://download.asrock.com/Drivers/All/Audio/Realtek_Audio(v8668_UAD_WHQL_DTS).zip 3.Follow the steps below to lower the sound bit and sound Hz to verify.
Step1. Right-click the speaker at the left of the taskbar and select "Open Sound setting". Step2. Select "Device properties" on the sound setting page. Step3. After going into "Device properties", you can find the "Additional device properties" at the left of the page. Step4. Please select it and go to the "Advanced" tag. Step5. You can find the selection at "Default Format", please lower the sound bit and sound Hz to verify.
4.Cross-test with other media player or video to verify. 5.If possible, please install other SSD/HDD with clean OS installed to verify your storage devices and data.
All the best, ASRock TSD
