So the Intel CSME version detection tool reports the system is vulnerable... CSME version: 11.8.50.3425.

I'm just wondering if there is any chance of a BIOS update for the Z170 Extreme4? Or maybe some other way to update the CSME?

Currently running the latest 7.50 BIOS with an i7 6700k.

I updated to 7.53 and it appears to have patched successfully. Intel Detection Tool is now happy and reporting ME version 11.8.70.3626

I have a problem though... the update seems to have killed the on-board NIC. It reported as "not attached" (code 45) in Win 10 device manager. I tried removing it to reinstall, but is now not detected at all. Doesn't appear to work/connect in the BIOS or when booting to MS DART so not just a Windows issue.

I have cleared the CMOS (also battery out) and went back to 7.5 and obviously disabled/enabled on-board LAN (many times) in the BIOS. The CSME is still patched even when going back to 7.5 so is this update to blame or could it be coincidental hardware failure?

Well that was quick

Thanks for the update... it has worked! Can I ask why reverting to 7.5 didn't fix the issue? Was the ME and Microcode patch to blame?

Dear Alan80,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, that was the cause. But don't worry, with newer L7.54 BIOS everything should work properly.

With thanks,
