Hi All, not my first rodeo, but running out of ideas.
I just built a system using the ASRock Steel Legend X299 with some STELLAR specs...but it refuses to recognize the SATA HDDs I have attached. I have a pair of M.2 PCIE Sabrent 1TB flash drives, and those are working fine. I added 5 SAS Drives with SATA adapters, but the BIOS is not recognizing the SAS drives at all. I tried new power cables, no luck. The cables/adapters are literally brand new and there is no fraying of the connectors.
The computer runs like a champ on the M.2 drives, but I really need more space to replace my old computer. That computer was using the same SAS drives and adapter, and it has been running this config for the past 4yrs.
I am stumped, any ideas?

M2_1 = Sabrent Rocket Q (Recognized)
M2_2 = Sabrent Rocket Q (Recognized)
SATA3_0 = Empty (Not Detected)
SATA3_1 = Empty (Not Detected)
SATA3_2 = SAS drive with adapter (Not Detected)
SATA3_3 = SAS drive with adapter (Not Detected)
SATA3_4 = SAS drive with adapter (Not Detected)
SATA3_5 = SAS drive with adapter (Not Detected)
SATA3_6 = SAS drive with adapter (Not Detected)

I don't believe that works. You can plug a SATA drive into a SAS port with the appropriate cable/adapter but not the reverse.

That's not an NVME but an M.2 SATA SSD. Plug it into the 2nd M.2 socket, M2_3, which is the one compatible with it.
You shouldn't have to move any jumpers. When you plug in too many PCIe cards and SATA drives it will automatically steer the lanes to certain devices according to the rules listed. It's kind of complicated to follow in the manual, but on an X570 board you shouldn't run into it unless you have a several HDD's and several PCIe cards inserted. If I had some PCIe cards installed and not identifying HDD's I'd move the SATA cables to different ports until they get identified.
