So, I tried the "Load 4GHz profile" option, but it doesn't seem to ..work?

my Cooler is a Corsair 100i GTX ..so I think I'm ok there (not that this is
the cause for the failure..I'm sure I'm doing something wrong)...

Any hints as to where I'm messing up? I haven't OC'd in years..just thought
I'd give it a go after setting this beast up last night.

Thanks, but not exactly what I was looking for.

The motherboard has profiles...but none seem to actually apply the oc...

wondering if I'm missing something...

The RAM has the profiles programmed on them.

Just how are you setting/choosing the XMP Profiles in the BIOS?

Setting XMP is simply a matter of choosing the Profile, Saving and rebooting. That's not working there is what you're saying?

I included the two links above as you seemed to play with the "Load 4Ghz' option. Most who do that don't have an inkling how to OC. My bad there.

pretty much what I'm saying. I apply the profiles...save and exit..nothing changes. It's bizarre..

the 5930k is fast at stock, but wanted to play with OC'ing...don't really want to screw with the
settings manually..want the preset ones from someone who knows what they're doing ;)

So you apply the OC profile, save and exit, and it does not apply the OC? Otherwise the PC boots?

Are you changing any other settings in the UEFI on your own? Any chance you are disabling Turbo?

I'm only choosing the profile and saving and exiting. When it boots, it shows as 3.5GHz still.....I go back into BIOS the profile is still chosen...it just doesn't seem like it does anything.

parsec, I'm wondering..I was reading thru another one (A Z170 board, though) ..and you  mentioned Turbo must be on..I'm actually not sure if it is...I'm at work, can't check..will when I get home..or is it on because I can choose the OC'ing options? I don't know...like I said..been forever since I OC'd.

could be the issue, I suppose?

Do not use the automatic overclock, for 4ghz just set the V-core to 1.200V (to be stable at 100%)

and increase the multiplier, thats it.... if is stable try to decrement the V-core at 0.010 step until you find the sweet spot :)
