Hi, I want to put my MoBo AsRock Ab350M pro4 Ryzen 5 1600af. I read on the support list that BIOS version 6.40 is needed, but it says: ASRock do NOT recommend updating this BIOS if the Pinnacle, Raven, Summit or Bristol Ridge CPU is used on your system. How should I understand it ? Can I safely update the BIOS and then use it normally with a new CPU? I currently have Ryzen 3 1200 and BIOS P3.00 Thank you very much for all the feedback

Do not recommend for a stable system. If you need it to run a CPU then it's fine. The warning is simply there to discourage unnecessary updating to help protect users from bad flashes (there is always a small risk of this).
You can go ahead and update, just be sure to use the instant flash method from within your BIOS, it is by far the safest and most reliable method.

my wife has the b450m pro4
same message on bios files download
yet it runs fine with the latest ryzen 3000 bios using the 1600AF (which is really a second gen 2600 )
im guessing the 1600AF would 'likely' be ok on a 2nd gen bios
if you are upgrading bios my advice is to RESET you current bios to default before flashing bios files
