I bought and built my brand new gaming rig with the current specs: - AMD RYZEN 7 3700X 8-Core 3.6 GHz (4.4 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 65W 100-100000071BOX Desktop Processor - Patriot Viper 4 Blackout Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Desktop Memory PVB416G360C7K - EVGA - KO ULTRA GAMING NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card
What happens is I flip the power switch on the psu and then the motherboard ?eartbeat??light turns on. Then when i go to start the computer, It turns on.... doesn?display anything for roughly ten seconds then powers off and then restarts.
I?e tried clearing the cmos, ive added a speaker and the speaker won?even sound or give any post codes.
I?e tried a single stick of ram inside the slot A2. Still nothing.
Any assistance is much appreciated

do you know what BIOS version is installed on your motherboard? What PSU are you running?

Psu is : corsair TX850M
The machine has never been turned on. Unless there is a way to see the BIOS build version from the box, unfortunately I wouldn?™t know

I thought maybe it would have said "Matisse Ready" ..or some kind of sticker on the box. You might have too old of a BIOS

No unfortunately. I wonder if asrock would be able to update the BIOS if i sent it to them ? I bought the board off of NewEgg, maybe I should reach out to them regarding a board update. I honestly think thats what may be the issue.

it will have the bios version sticker on the bios chip located on the mainboard
if the retail packing dosnt say ryzen 3000 ready 99% certain its not got the later bios
your options .............
check sticker on the bios chip ,check retail box for statement either ryzen2000 or ryzen 3000 (bear in mind this is a very old board ,how is newegg still stocking 'new' x370 boards ?????? )
if the bios is too old for 3000 series you can 1) return to newegg as 'not fit for purpose' 2) beg borrow steal a first gen cpu to flash the bios 3) get local pc hobbist/pc store to flash bios 4) request an AMD boot kit from amd ..this is a crap first gen loaner cpu/apu to bios flash 5) buy the cheapest 2nd hand ryzen 1000 you can find on ebay etc to flash bios

So, I have a identical problem and I have a similar build. I bought the X370 Killer SLI packaged with a Ryzen 5 3600 and I assumed (I guess wrongly) that the BIOS would have been updated. I found a sticker on mine that says P2.30 which I'm guessing isn't compatible with the Ryzen 5 chip until it's been updated? So, does anyone have a gen 1 processor for this damn board they want to sell for cheap? I can't understand how Newegg can sell incompatible parts like this, I mean, we're not all old hardware storage houses. The last time I built a computer it was 5 years ago! The freaking Intel i5 processor was still the hot deal...
anyway, any advice would be much appreciated. What processor will post on this damn board long enough for me to do a BIOS update?

wow ..that BIOS is so old it's not even listed on ASRock's site , lol .. you could purchase a chip and then return it once you got the appropriate BIOS flashed on your mobo .. or take it to a local PC shop and see if they can do it for you.
Generally you have to flash a certain BIOS before you can flash to a newer one and so on .. so read the notes on the BIOS revisions before flashing
