Hi,

If you have a AB350M mobo, DVD-drive (or any optical) and Win10 and you might be willing to help in a little test, keep reading.

I'd like you to test if you can set boot priorities such that DVD-drive is first in the list and the HD with Win10 in a second place. Then you should be able to boot some installation CD in the drive and, if the drive is empty, the machine should boot Win10.

This should be very basic function of any mobo and BIOS but it seems not to work with this particular mobo. ASRock support says that it is because I don't have Win10. I really don't have any Windows license and therefore I need someone to help.

Never mind. I managed to solve the problem. Due to the BUG in the BIOS of the board, it can't boot EFI system as a second option. When I installed Ubuntu in legacy mode, the system started to behave like expected: Put DVD into the drive and it boots from there; Leave the drive empty and it boots from the HD.

I'm fairly confident, that Win10 wouldn't have booted either. I can imagine MS paying ASRock not to support Linux users even if the issue at hand has nothing to do with the OS but is instead a problem in ASRock's product.

I am never going to buy ASRock again. Instead I shall see, if I can return the last purchase...
