Sorry for the duplicate posting, I put this in the wrong forum earlier.

I just bought a B365M Pro4 mobo & have a question about the M.2 slots, which I?e never worked with before.

Which M.2 slot should be used for the boot drive, M2_1 or M2_2 ?

The Quick Install Guide & the User Manual state: If M2_1 is occupied by a SATA-type M.2 device, SATA3_0 will be disabled.

That would seem that M2_1 could go either way & be considered a universal drive for booting.

OTOH is a shared slot recommended for a boot drive?

Which is the BIOS usually set for by default?

Dear Mike99,

Thanks for posting!

Both M.2 slots can be used to install an SSD with OS in it.

If you are using PCIe M.2 SSD, please plug it into the first slot. (M.2_1)
If you are using SATA M.2 SSD, please plug it into the second slot. (M.2_1)

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

Thanks for the reply.

Initially I read the printed B365M manual which says "If M2_2 is occupied by a SATA-type M.2 device, SATA3_0 will be disabled".

But then I mistakenly downloaded the B365 manual which said "If M2_1 is occupied by a SATA-type M.2 device, SATA3_0 will be disabled."

I was perplexed & didn't realize this until just now.

Thanks again.
