I'm struggling with my first PC build. When I turn on the PC, I get flashing red lights under the chipset, power for 20-30 seconds, and then it shuts off and starts again.

Here are the solutions I've tried so far that haven't worked:

-Using different PSU
-Using different RAM slots
-Using different compatible CPU
-Removing and replacing CMOS battery

Here's my build:

CPU - Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core
MOBO- x370 Killer SLI/ac ATX AM4
Memory - G.Skill Aegis 2 x 8GB
Storage - Team MS30 512 GB M.2-2280 SSD
Video Card - XFX Radeon RX 580 8GB
Power Supply - Corsair TXM Gold 650 W

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thanks

What is the other "compatible" CPU that you are testing with?

my first question is ........ is this 'another' bargain newegg deal?

we've had a few similar problems lately with these boards from newegg
being NEW--- 'old stock' and thus dont have a recent bios flash to support the 3rd gen cpus

which is what threedee is thinking above ^

look on your mainboard for a small chip with a sticker on it saying something like

v1.6/ v2.0 etc

it tells you the bios version

you may even be facing the case that this 'new' board still has a bios on it that will only work with ryzen 1200/1300/1700/1800 etc etc

and you need an early cpu to be able to boot and flash a newer bios version

also to note the aegis ram isnt very promising to be trouble free and run its xmp on that board (it dosnt really like AM4 too much)

As Datonyb suggested, make sure the board has a compatible BIOS version. Also make
sure your RAM is fully seated into the slots, we often see issues like yours where
the RAM isn't all the way into the slot.
