So I have an ASRock Z370 Extreme4 with a Front Panel Type C USB 3.1 Gen1 Header (ASMedia ASM1074 hub). I recently bought a new case which is the NZXT H510 that has a USB 3.1 Gen2-compatible USB-C connector on the front panel. I've got it hooked up and nothing registers that I plug into the port.

Are they not backward compatible or is something else going on that I've missed?

Dear Jbarcus81,

Thank you for posting your query to the ASRock forum.

Regarding your question, the header should work once plugged in.
Kindly try with different USB type C devices.

If the problem persists, kindly try a different connector plugged to the USB-C cable to check if it is the cable-related.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD
