Im building a new system with b450m pro4, R5 3400G the system works fine with the windows 10 hdd pulled from my old a10 apu computer. I want to run an ssd as a boot drive and the old Hdd as secondary storage. When I install a Western digital SN750 black 500 GB Nvme drive in the First M2 slot and reboot to access bios i cant access bios and computer will not boot to windows its dead other than fans running . If I remove the drive Bios is again accessible and computer will run if hdd is connected. so far I have up graded bios from 3.9 to 4.2 and got another SN750 with same results. SN750 is a supported ssd for this MB. according to Asrock. I am out of ideas other than suspecting the motherboard. Thanks. Gary

try unplugging other drive(s) and see if system boots with the NVMe drive ..

my wife has this board as do another two systems i helped build
i can confirm the adata xpg 8200 500gb nvme works fine with bios 3.9
one thing im wondering though is this possibly some issue with the REDUCED pcie lanes when using the 3400g ?

The XPG was the one I was going to order. But I got the wd sn750 due to shipping taking over a week on the xpg and the sn750 was 2 days . Both drives are on the supported list so i should have been good. Guess i will probably have to wait to see if asrock ever answers the ticket I started on the problem. Or may be order another mb and return the first one when it comes in rma will take too long. The bios update I did from 3.9 to 4.1 (the actual file I got was 4.2 but the link said 4.1)? Probably fixed a BSOD problem on boot up after user pin was entered. I think it was related to the gskill 3200 memory I have not being supported but now may be with the latest bios. My son put about 30 hrs on the machine so far with not one BSOD.

This may not be much help, but for some general info -- I just put together a build with a B450 ITX asrock mobo using the exact same processor (3400G) and HD (WD Black SN750 nvme 500gb) and had no issues detecting / getting BIOS to boot. My mobo came with BIOS version 3.7

Ok so i fixed it.I ordered another motherboard. Put the SSD in and Bios now opened with the SSD installed and Bios showed it was installed. Great but not the end of story. Windows would not fully install and I was getting Page fault in non Page area and 0xc0000005 error codes. so I replaced the SSD with the other SN750 that I had purchased when I suspected it was the SSD causing no bios with the ssd installed. That did it Bad motherboard and Bad SSD drive. Both BAD And both causing 2 separate but frustrating problems. Hope this helps someone. Gary.
