Hello there. My computer has a H310M-HG4 motherboard, listed as supporting dual-channel RAM, which, as checked in BIOS, are appropriately named A1 and B1, which should be right.

I have two identical 8gb RAM sticks, also from the same manufacturer and with the same speed (2666mhz).

Upon installing an additional RAM stick (on slot A1), the computer just stays on a black screen and does not go through the boot proccess. Both RAM sticks have been tested on the functional slot (B1), and do work.

Is it possible that my motherboard has a defect (and thus does not allow use of the A1 slot)?

I have already tried upgrading the motherboard BIOS through the product page (which has all the bios and updates available), but upon running the prompt and doing all checks, it just quitted itself, returning no prompts. I also checked the UEFI and it recognizes the manufacturer, speed and size properly, but slot A1 remains forever grayed out.

Much appreciated.

The memory controller is built into the CPU so it may be a good idea to remove it
and check to make sure you don't have any bent pins in the socket or dirt on the
CPU contact pads. Almost every time I have seen this issue on intel systems
(LGA sockets) it has turned out to be either a bent pin/s or debris/dirt on the
contacts. It can also be caused by an overly tightened (or unevenly tightened)
down aftermarket CPU cooler which can cause the CPU substrate to flex and make
poor contact in places.
